Does your room feel unfinished?
Did you just get new furniture and still don’t feel cozy and at home? There could be a few small things missing! Let’s dig deeper into the details!
What are your window treatments looking like? Do you currently have blinds or shades but nothing else? I’ll always be a pro curtains and blinds combo. Curtains add texture, softness, and warmth to your space. They also draw your eye up and add height to your space!
Rugs is another item you may be missing. Maybe it’s the size that’s just not right or maybe the fact that you don’t have one at all. Rugs define and anchor a space visually. They create zones within an open concept home. Adding more texture and warmth is also something that will make your home feel finished.
Another item that can finish off a room is pillows. Couch pillows sometimes come with your new couch or sectional but often times they are the same color/fabric and will likely “disappear”. I don’t recommend keeping those. 😉 You need to add some contrast. Contrast in colors, textures, and pattern to make your space more personalized.
Every room has overhead lighting but accent lighting can be beneficial to soften and cozy up your space. Add a floor or table lamp if you have an outlet that allows for it. As some people call it, “lamp o’clock” is their favorite time of day.
And lastly, accessories are to a home as jewelry is to your outfit! They are needed to help cozy up and personalize your space. Keep in mind, having a lot of smaller accessories will make your space feel cluttered. Aim for larger pieces, closer to the size of your head or larger instead. This is the trickiest part for homeowners I have realized. A lot of times we are drawn to decor but it’s just way to small. Size matters and you’ll need a variety of sizes to complete your space.
