Bedroom Bookcase

Anyone else really picked up reading the last couple years like I have?

I’ve been purchasing book after book and my nightstand was getting a bit too full. So I went to the drawing board. The only wall that was available for a bookcase was in my bedroom. As a designer, I am my worst client. So many options go through my head of how or where. Something that I do for my clients is a 3D rendering, so that’s what I did! I drew up two options, one isn’t fully completed because I knew I didn’t like it as much.

I wanted the bookcase to feel builtin even though it was an IKEA bookcase on top of an IKEA dresser. I also was having a hard time with this not being symmetrical. There is a vent on the same wall as the TV, as well as a window on the adjacent wall I had to account for. So therefore, symmetrical wasn’t going to really be an option. I do love asymmetry when it’s done right though! And that’s what I went for!

I now have a great place to display my books as well as more storage with the addition of another dresser! There is some things I would probably change had I had a larger budget, but overall I’m loving this addition! :)

Now, back to reading… ;)
