4 Pieces of Advice for DIYers
1. I love a good DIY project, you already know that. Sometimes it can be hard to start because you aren’t quite sure the outcome. My advice; just try. And trust your gut.
2. I know you know that feeling of uneasiness when something feels off and the excitement when something feels right. Trust that feeling. That is magic when it comes to designing a space. Say yes to that excitement feeling and no to the uneasiness.
3. When designing your space, it should be both functional and beautiful. Not one of the other, it needs to be both!
4. How high do I hang art on the wall? We’ve all been there. You found the perfect piece of art but now you have to figure out where and how high to hang it right? Many times your art is gorgeous and works great in the room but something just feels off. When your art is too high it becomes disconnected from your space and the furniture under it. Eye level is how high you should hang your art. Yes everyone’s eye level is different, I know. So between 57”-60” off of the floor. If your art hung above a piece of furniture? 57”-60” is great for hallways or walls with no furniture but if you have a console table or sofa on the wall the rules are different. If you have a piece of furniture below your art, hang your art 6”-10” above. So many times I see art hung too big above a console table and it looks disconnected from the space. Keep them close so it’s easier to understand the relationship between the art and furniture.
