5 Things to do in your home this January

When the calendar changes, sometimes it feels like we “need” something new, and don’t get me wrong, I love something new! But I have some ideas before you hit add to cart you may want to try. :)

  1. Change your mindset. Sometimes when the new year hits, you think and feel like you need more items. I get it, you’re ready for a fresh start. Something “new” to start the new year. But you don’t necessarily need brand new stuff for your home just because it’s a new year. Before going out and buying new, try Facebook marketplace, antique stores, or flea markets. These are great options to find something repurposed that will make your space feel new!

  2. Declutter! Go through your toys, decor, clothes, kitchen cabinets, etc. Get rid of items you are not using, items that are not serving you well. Clearing items out gives such a fresh outlook in your home, you’ll feel that fresh start! And personally speaking, this is also so good for your soul!

  3. Organize! After you have purged, it’s time to really get clear in your organization. Use your storage closets and space work for you and not against you. Store like items together so you aren’t losing things all over the house.

  4. Rearrange! When we start a new year we often find ourselves wanting something new. I get it because I’m in the same boat. We can easily create a “new” space by simply rearranging our furniture or our decor. Switch out your lower level items with your upper level items or get back out some decor items you put away for awhile. Changing out a few things will give your space a fresh look and scratch the itch to buy new!

  5. Set home goals. If you are like me, lists help me clear out my brain! If you are hoping to really change up a space this year, create a goal list for your home. What spaces are you wanting to change? Which space do you want to accomplish first? You can then try to estimate a budget you will need for each item on your list and you’ll be ready to take on the new year!
