Moody Home Office
Need a home office? Make it moody.
When I first started my own business, I was working part-time. I put up a desk in my bedroom as my office. I would work there or the kitchen table and it worked great! After deciding to go full time, as well as the pandemic hitting us, things needed to change.
I decided to use my daughter’s room as my office and she would share with her brother.
Above is a picture of the in between. I knew I wanted storage in here for all things design. There are favorite samples I keep in these of wood, tile, carpet, paint, etc so having a place to store them was a priority. I decided to go with Lowes box cabinets to be painted for the majority of the storage in here but I did order one custom cabinet for client trays. These trays help me organize projects and keep current projects easily accessible. The moody paint trend has been a favorite of mine for awhile, so I decided on Sherwin Williams Rock Bottom for the cabinet color. I added in shiplap paneling to the back to keep some neutrality but I also wanted to add texture.
This custom cabinet was to have current client trays available and ready to be worked on when needed. They have my clients specific samples placed in here so I can grab and go easily when working on their project. The other cabinets house my printer, wifi modem, and other extra samples.
I decided to go with laminate for the back counter. I wanted to add in warmth so landed on a faux wood look. It holds up great which also give that warm wood look as well as coordinating with my desk top.
As time has went on, I have made a couple changes to the office space. I went full in on the moody vibe and painted the walls and shiplap. I also upgraded my desk and desk chair. So much more working space on my desk now and I’m in love!!!
